Something new

I'm going to start recapping. Fingers crossed it goes well since I've never done this before so apologies if this is a terrible experience for you. Since a Chinese series started recently and I've seen the trailers which seemed quite interesting, I'll try recapping this one. Once again hopefully I don't make any mistakes with translation or misinterpretation. Wish me luck!

I'm going to recap The Virtuous Queen of Han 大漢賢后 － 衛子夫 .

I believe that this drama follows the life and rise of Wei Zifu to her position as one of the most renowned Empresses of the Han Dynasty. At time of writing, six episodes have already aired so I suppose this post is a little late. The thing that I find really different with Chinese dramas is that three episodes air on weekdays for the one series, which makes it actually quite difficult to catch up and keep on track with the rate it comes out. So I will try my best to get these recaps out on time.

This is a Hong Kong and Mainland China collaboration and it's really quite a change since Hong Kong dramas are usually lacking in elaborate costuming or filming sites. I've always been fond of historical dramas because I find it difficult to relate to the modern dramas, and I've alway been fascinated by history and hence such dramas albeit its theatricality and dramatisation.

For more information on Empress Wei Zifu, wikipedia does give a great overview. Also I've had a skim of what's online so far, I've discovered that spcnet and cfensi seem to have great posts and stills for the lead-up to its premiere. Here are several glamorous stills which make me feel that even if I don't end up loving this drama at least the costumes and drama and cast are pretty to look at. This is the trailer for the drama:
